The Mary-Eloise Eckhart Sunshine Viewing Room

TAMONNATAOA’s newest permanent collection, art from the estate of Mrs. Mary-Eloise Eckhart was rescued from its final donation to the Goodwill’s Blue Hanger outlet store in November of 2014,  after a tremendously successful crowdfunding campaign raised the necessary $78 to purchase the original twenty pieces.

Mrs. Eckart’s collection, curated for its ferocious dedication to pleasantness, added a much-needed boost to the rather spare selection of large-eyed kittens and baby birds housed by the Museum. The Mary-Eloise Eckhart Viewing Room has been expanded over the following months by the Museum’s cleaning staff, who regularly add pieces to the collection when they’ve run out of room in the storage shed.
