Mrs. Clark, Room 306 Memorial Gallery
Formally, the Museum’s collection of Grade 9-12 artistic endeavorĀ isĀ the Northern Gallery High School Art Collection. One of the first pieces in this collection, Untitled (Chocolate Banana), was labelled only “Mrs Clark, Room 306.” A former curator took to calling the High School Art Collection the Mrs. Clark, Room 306 Memorial Gallery, and the name stuck.
Room 306 is dedicated to art that was no doubt deeply meaningful to its creator, possessed of clumsy irony, and touched by the indefinable spirit of high school art; and to the memory of all public school art teachers, past, present, or yet to return from the teacher’s lounge.
