Filled with energy and strange distortions, (Explosion of Love) resembles the animated cityscapes of the old Betty Boop era cartoons, where buildings twist and dance to the soundtrack. the building, itself rippling with motion, is surrounded by fireworks. The building itself seems to be the University of Texas tower, one of the most identifiable landmarks in Austin. In total, CBT’s painting is a celebration of Austin, a joyful expression of love of place in a city that is utterly in love with itself.
