Zebra is at its heart an ironic study in symmetry and asymmetry, the zebra’s body gracefully symmetrical on a left-to-right axis, and tragically off-balance front to rear. Striking contrast and line can only do so much to improve the subject’s appearance when the camera is facing its tail. In some ways, Zebra is a more refined version of office poster humor. “Everyone,” it says, “can have an off day.” Or in this case, can take a bad photo.
