A simple, positive affirmation. The scale of this picture, a single piece of plywood roughly two feet wide, emphasizes the power of the message, as does the ornate font. Whomever you are, you are beautiful. Note the subtle, if somewhat off-centered, use of the wood’s natural texture to draw attention to the subject’s nostril, an effect that serves to soften the fundamentally Fauvist construction of the image with an organic, spontaneous touch.
