Of course, the “Big Box” thrift stores: Savers, Goodwill, and The Salvation Army, have the widest selection and are my go-to shops. But Austin has a great thrift community and some local treasures.

Treasure City Thrift: A Southeast Austin thrift store with a strong mission focus and a punk sensibility.
Next to New: A project of St. David’s church, mostly consignment and higher pricetag merch, but their kitchenware is impressive, and their art selection is wide-ranging and peculiar.
Top Drawer Thrift: Fun and funky thrift store on 49th, stocking all kinds of peculiar gems and supporting the GLBT community and individuals with HIV/AIDS.
